Kiki closed the New York operation it had opened in answer to that city's short-term rental crackdown, and called the regulatory position there a grey area. The marketplace matches people leaving home for a period with renters who have been vouched for, for stays of up to about six months.
We backed Kiki because mid-term rentals fall between short-stay platforms and traditional leasing, which is also why the regulatory ground is unsettled. New York's short-term rental crackdown was the opening Kiki went after, and the same rules are what closed it. The founders' willingness to move to where the market is, rather than argue with it, is the resourcefulness we look for.
