Sugar Wallet launched an investing app aimed at New Zealanders who are struggling to get ahead. Dev Soni started it after finding his mother had been paying into a default KiwiSaver fund earning barely 1 percent a year, and built it with former Xero engineer Sophia Ritchie.
We backed Sugar Wallet because everyday savers want somewhere better than a low-interest bank account, and the alternatives have always been hard for ordinary people to buy, store and sell in small amounts. The app removes that friction with automated micro-saving that anyone can start from one dollar. The founder built a simple, honest product for a problem savers have everywhere, and demand for alternatives to cash savings has kept rising.
