Vessev raised $32.6 million to build more electric hydrofoils in Auckland

Vessev raised a Series A reported at $32.6 million to expand production in Auckland and open a United States market. Its nine-meter VS-9 has carried paying passengers with Fullers360 on the Waitemata Harbour since January 2025, one of the first electric hydrofoiling ferries anywhere in commercial service.

We backed Vessev because efficient electric marine transport is a large opportunity, and hydrofoiling is the approach that makes battery-powered range and comfort work on the water. The team put a certified vessel into commercial service with New Zealand's largest ferry operator before raising this round, which shows it can build and ship hard hardware. As operators face pressure to cut emissions and fuel costs, quiet, efficient electric craft are moving from novelty to a serious commercial option.
