Dawn Aerospace builds a reusable rocket-powered spaceplane and green propulsion systems for satellites already in orbit.
Dawn Aerospace's Aurora spaceplane takes off and lands from an ordinary runway, and in November 2024 it was certified for rocket-powered flight and flew supersonic from Glentanner Aerodrome in the Southern Alps. Alongside the aircraft, the company sells satellite propulsion units that let operators move and manage spacecraft once they are in space, giving Dawn two businesses on either side of the launch.
Reuse is an operations problem, not a recovery problem. A vehicle that takes off and lands from a runway and turns around the same day gets rocket performance on fleet economics, which is why Aurora has already flown more than 60 times at an operating cost per flight as low as $50k.

We backed Dawn Aerospace because the cost of reaching space still turns on whether the vehicle can be flown again, and a spaceplane that takes off and lands from a runway points at aircraft-style reuse rather than single-use rockets. The team proved the hard part in the sky, taking Aurora supersonic under rocket power in 2024, and built a second revenue line in satellite propulsion that ships today. Led by Stefan Powell, the company closed a $25M Series B in June 2026 to scale both sides, and the timing suits a launch market that rewards flight rate and fast turnaround.
