Plots is a consumer app for discovering and hosting local events, from nightlife to community gatherings, letting people see what is on nearby, view guest lists, invite friends and buy entry.
Plots gives hosts the tools to promote and sell out events, and turns online connections into real-world meetups. Hosts earned more than $3M in ticket sales through it in 2024.
People decide what to go to based on who else is going. Making the guest list visible turns an event listing into a social signal, which is why hosts get audiences out of the app rather than just a checkout.
NZVC invested in Plots from NZVC Fund II. We file the company under Consumer and Marketplace on the portfolio wall.
We backed Plots because in-person social discovery is a large consumer opportunity that calendars and ticketing tools serve poorly, especially for a younger generation that plans its social life on mobile. The founders built genuine engagement on both sides of the marketplace, giving hosts a reason to bring their events and audiences and giving attendees a reason to open the app. Getting a two-sided network to spark is the hard part of this category, and the team showed they could do it.
