Appetise raised $7 million to sell grocery insights to food brands

A $7 million round funded the next stage of the insights business, eighteen months after the rebrand from MenuAid. Toby and Elise Hilliam run one of the region's largest food and beverage insights panels, built from a free app that sends priced shopping lists straight to New World, PAK'nSAVE, Coles and Woolworths.

We backed Appetise because the household meal-planning habit is large and recurring, and the Hilliams found a way to earn from the panel without charging the households that depend on the app. Consumer traction across Australia and New Zealand sits underneath a business that grocery and CPG companies pay for, which is a rarer combination than it sounds.
