Curve Biosciences raised $40 million to take liquid biopsy beyond cancer and into chronic disease. The Stanford spin-out reads DNA methylation patterns in cell-free blood DNA and maps them back to the organ they came from, so one blood draw can track the progression of a liver condition such as MASH or cirrhosis without a biopsy or a scan.
We backed Curve because the science that made early cancer detection possible can now monitor the far larger population living with chronic disease, and Curve has built one of the most detailed tissue methylation atlases to do it. The founding team carries deep experience from Natera and GRAIL, where they helped build the blood tests that defined the category. Chronic disease monitoring is a vast market with poor existing tools, and the timing fits a broad move toward earlier, less invasive care.
